I find it's a very lively and airy and complex guitar, with a "jangle" in the high end that translates to an edge with gain, though I don't find the Treble unpleasant in any way. That said, I can certainly understand wanting a mellowed set of pickups in it. The P90s sound very good to me - better than the Reverend P90s in my Roundhouse and as good as the Lollars in my Godin Icon, though different - and though they may be on the hotter side of the spectrum I feel that I get a nice working "jazz tone" from them using the guitar's tone and volume controls and amp settings. I really wanted to like the Coupe more but side by side tonally it just didnt measure up to its big brother. As for playability they felt much the same but you will get better access to the upper frets with the Casino vs the Coupe. I've had my Casino Coupe a couple days now, and have been very happy with it. In comparison the Coupe pushed more mid range and sounded more compressed/boxy. ![]() Either way, you might want to pull the existing pickups first and take a look at them to make sure replacements would fit in the covers/cavities. I wonder if a custom rewind or custom made set might be the way to go. ![]() ![]() How would you replace the P90s in the Casino Coupe? You would have to put whatever pickups you bought into the Casino covers I guess? The covers actually set the height for the pickups to, so that has an affect on any replacement you might try. ![]()
